Since 1992, Guenther Weber has played a leading role in research and innovation starting as one of the founding directors of Mannesmann Pilotentwicklung which in 2001 became the German Centre of Vodafone Group R&D.
He initiated the Telematics and Tolling activities of Mannesmann and later of the Vodafone Group by creating technology driven paradigm shifts: the creation and development of a GPS/ GSM based road tolling system, Mobile Network based Floating Car Data, eCall and online traffic management.
Guenther’s last position at Vodafone Group R&D was Head of Advanced Research Programme, driving topics such as connected car and e-mobility.
He represented Mannesmann resp. Vodafone at various standardisation organisations as well as member of the supervisory board of ERTICO.
Now he is partner and CTO of deep innovation gmbh, a new technology consultancy in Munich focussing on disruptive technologies, digital transformation and their business implications.
He holds degrees from the Technical University in Munich (Dipl. Ing. Communications) and the University of California in Davis (MSEE in Computer Science) as well as several patents.
In December 2018, he joined Hydrogen Rise AG as a member of the supervisory board.
